The vendor is required to provide that evaluation of supplemental nutrition assistance program nutrition education services for evaluation services of the snap nutrition education and obesity prevention grant program as defined in state current snap-ed plan.
- Evaluation of state snap-ed:
• A variety of research methods for evaluating state snap-ed, including at minimum, the evaluation projects outlined in the state snap-ed plan may include outcomes including but not limited to direct education, social marketing, or state nutrition action council activities.
• Provide on-going technical assistance to the department and to the implementing agency to assure methodologically sound measurement of efficiency and effectiveness of state snap-ed.
• Evaluate behavioral outcomes that are key objectives of state snap-ed, including:
o Participants make half their plate fruits and vegetables, at least half their grains whole grains, and to switch to fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products;
o Participants increase physical activity and reduce time spent in sedentary behaviors as part of a healthy lifestyle; and
o Participants maintain appropriate calorie balance during each stage of life – childhood, adolescence, adulthood, pregnancy and breast-feeding, and older age.
• Evaluate state snap-ed performance measures for improving participants’:
o Knowledge of how to purchase healthy foods on a limited budget;
o Confidence in purchasing healthy foods on a limited budget;
o Ability to purchase healthy foods on a limited budget;
o Knowledge on how to cook healthy meals and snacks at home;
o Confidence in cooking healthy meals and snacks at home;
o Ability to cook healthy meals and snacks at home;
o Knowledge about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables;
o Consumption of more fruits and vegetables; and
o Knowledge regarding the importance of physical activity.
